The Renewed Business Athletes
For the founders in the trenches, the investors who seek them, and the people who shape what’s next.
For those of you who’ve been following Business Athletes, you may have noticed a pause. It wasn’t an end—it was a strategic halftime.
Today, I want to share why we took a break, why we’re returning with A New Season, what’s staying the same, and what’s evolving.
The Second Season of Business Athletes
Think of Business Athletes like a great sports team. Every winning team operates in seasons—pushing forward, refining their game, and coming back stronger. After an exciting first run, it was time to step back, reassess, and refine our approach.
I have spent the last couple of months re-defining the why behind Business Athletes, and who we hope to serve with our founder stories. We want to help drive value to founders by showcasing what makes them truly unique, and connecting the right investors and talent to them through personal storytelling. Now that the whistle has blown, it’s time to step back onto the field.
Our Mission, Reiterated
Business Athletes exists to answer one fundamental question: How do the best business minds operate at their highest level?
We decode the patterns, habits, and mental frameworks of top founders—unpacking what sets them apart. Because the best founders aren’t always the loudest; they are deep in the trenches, obsessive about their craft, often unconventional in their approach. And now more than ever before, the gap between the average and elite isn’t just about ability and skill—it’s about how well and consistently we manage our time, focus, energy, team, and decision-making.
At Business Athletes, we lean into what makes each founder different—after all, business is about people. We want to help founders be seen for who they really are, and connect with the right partners who believe in them and their journey.
The need for this platform has only grown. So, we’re raising the bar.
What’s Changing
While we’ll keep the content digestible, expect deeper insights. We’re refining our approach with sharper analysis, more useful frameworks, and richer perspectives.
A Trusted Source for Early-Stage Investors: Business Athletes will become a go-to place for early-stage investors who care about founder quality. After all, early-stage investing is largely about the founder—their mindset, track record, patterns, and habits.
Framework-Driven Discussions: With my background as an ex-investor, research analyst, and startup operator, we’ll apply rigorous VC and PE-specific founder evaluation frameworks, as well as competitive analysis methodologies, to vet the startups we feature.
Independent Investment Memos: We’ll be writing detailed investment memos on select startups, giving an independent analysis beyond just the founder interview. These memos will be designed to be valuable for investors, operators, and talent looking for their next great company.
A Media-Driven Approach: Inspired by platforms like 20VC, we’re evolving Business Athletes into a more structured media platform, focusing on deep insights, interviews, and analysis.
More Community & Connection: We’re creating more ways for founders, investors, and talent to connect. Whether through curated introductions, expert-driven discussions, or shared insights, Business Athletes will be more than just content—it will be a network.
What’s Staying the Same
An Athlete-Like Mentality to Business: Business Athletes was founded on the idea that elite business leaders operate like athletes—focused, disciplined, and relentless in pursuit of growth. This connection runs deep, and will remain a key theme throughout our content.
Founder-Focused: The core subject of our newsletter remains the same: the founder. Whilst in the past we interviewed operators and investors, interviewing founders will help us drive the courage that budding entrepreneurs need and help the right investors, operators and talent find the right startup for them.
First-Person, Straight from the Source: Our content will continue to feature first-person insights from founders, ensuring that their raw perspectives and personal lessons remain at the forefront. We’ll also complement this with third-person commentary for additional context and analysis.
High-Performance Playbooks: We’ll continue to break down the routines, mindsets, and habits of top business leaders so you can apply them in your own life. Whether it’s an early-stage founder, a seasoned investor, or an operator leading a fast-scaling company, we will highlight the practical steps they take to win.
Concise, Actionable Insights: Business Athletes will remain a five-minute read, packed with practical takeaways. We know your time is valuable, so we focus on delivering the most essential insights in a digestible format.
Let’s Get Back to Work
To everyone who stuck around during the pause—thank you. Your support and patience mean a lot. We’re committed to making this next chapter even more valuable, more insightful, and more aligned with what truly matters to founders and those who back them.
If you’re new here—welcome. Business Athletes is back, with a renewed purpose and a deeper commitment to uncovering what sets the best founders apart. I’m excited for what’s ahead and grateful to have you along for the journey.
This season we go deeper, sharper, and more relentless in uncovering what sets elite founders apart.
If there’s a topic you’d love to see covered, reply or reach out. I’d love to hear from you.
Now, let’s make this season count. Focused. Disciplined. Relentless.
Let’s build something that matters,
