Pre-Game Preparation

Morning Routine

I wake up at 7 AM and start my day with a solid workout at the gym. Physical fitness is a non-negotiable part of my routine, providing the energy and focus needed for the day ahead. After the gym, I have a breakfast of three eggs and crackers, complemented by fresh orange juice and coffee. By 9 or 9:30 AM, I'm at the office, ready to tackle the day's challenges.

Tools for Success

I rely on a few key tools to organize my day and keep my productivity high. Notion is my go-to for managing tasks and projects, while my brain is, of course, my most critical tool. Additionally, I use my SaaS platform, EasyGen, to streamline workflows and ensure efficiency.

Preparation for Big Events

Preparation is crucial, especially before significant events like keynotes or fundraising meetings. I rehearse my presentations countless times to ensure I’m confident and clear on stage. Repetition helps me internalize my message and deliver it with impact.

Gameplay

Finding Flow

I thrive in environments where I can work alongside others. Collaboration fuels my creativity and productivity. To maintain focus, I prefer either complete silence or chill music without lyrics. My office is my sanctuary for deep work; I never work from home and don’t even keep a computer there to avoid distractions.

Handling Distractions

On a typical workday, distractions can come from various sources. To minimize them, I occasionally implement a no-meeting week and reduce team management tasks. This allows me to focus on my own work and maintain momentum.

Re-Centreing During Challenges

When things go wrong, I recentre myself by taking a step back. Implementing a no-meeting week and focusing on solo tasks helps me regain clarity and control. This approach allows me to address issues without the added pressure of constant communication.

Rest

Rest and Recovery

Rest is essential for sustained high performance. My go-to activities for relaxation include hitting the beach on Saturdays and maintaining my morning gym routine. Despite working long hours, from 9 AM to 8 or sometimes 9 PM, these breaks are crucial for recharging my energy.

Performance Review

I believe in moving forward rather than dwelling on the past. After key situations, I don't spend much time reviewing my performance; instead, I focus on the next challenge. This forward-thinking mindset helps me stay productive and continuously improve.

Lessons From The Field

Longevity in Problem-Solving

Being a successful solo founder or leading a team in a competitive industry boils down to one thing: the ability to fix problems while enjoying the process. The journey is long, and the only constant is your capacity to solve issues with a positive attitude.

Building and Leading a Team

Building a cohesive and motivated team is crucial. I believe in leading by example, providing clear incentives, and coaching my team to reach their full potential. My approach to leadership involves open communication and continuous support.

Personal Mentorship and Improvement

I don't have a single "coach," but I value feedback and ideas from a network of trusted advisors and peers. These interactions help me refine my strategies and improve daily.

The Business Athlete Mindset

Athletes as Role Models

When faced with tough times, I draw inspiration from athletes like Kobe Bryant and ping pong players. Their dedication and "stick to it" mentality resonate with me. I also often think about the stoic philosophies of Marcus Aurelius, which help me maintain perspective and resilience.

Defining High Performance

High performance, to me, means my team and I have created world-class content that makes an impact. This concept of winning is consistent whether I'm thinking about personal achievements or company success. It’s all about delivering excellence consistently.
